Focus on the Middle East
The Middle East is one of the most volatile regions of the world. From Iraq to Iran, a misstep in American foreign policy towards the Middle East could spell disaster. In particular the outcome of the conflict in Iraq will have a major impact on America's national security for decades. Iraq's location--at the crossroads of the Sunni and Shi'a branches of Islam and sitting on top of the world's second largest conventional oil reserves--makes policy success essential for America. Additionally, Iran’s nuclear ambitions present a unique challenge of its own. Recognizing this, CNP is bringing together leading experts and the Capitol Hill policy community to assess the situation and explore new options.
