September 11th: Five Years After
A Press Briefing with Mary Fetchet
and Tim Roemer
September 7, 2006

Speaking a few days before the fifth anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, Mary Fetchet and Tim Roemer addressed a gathering of media and policy professionals to discuss the lack of progress in implementing the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission.
Five years after 9/11 and two years after the release of the 9/11 Commission report, former Commissioner Roemer and 9/11 family leader Mary Fetchet said little progress has been made since Congress and the Administration received a failing grade in implementing the 41 measures called for in the report. "One year ago the 9/11 Commission gave the government failing grades on their work to secure the country: 12 Ds, five Fs and two Incompletes. If I got those grades in college, I would not be returning to school the next semester," said Roemer.
Fetchet urged Americans to keep the pressure on Congress to pass the remaining recommendations, noting that her organization, Voices of September 11, has launched a new web site intended as a tool to help Americans keep pressure on the government to make the changes necessary for America to be secure.
